Nightmares

Nightmares - they are unlike anything that lives on the surface of the earth. They are blind, guided by smell and infrasound. The most powerful of them are intelligent and have special powers - they can telepathically guide and other, weaker individuals of their species. The most powerful of them is the Shadow Weaver, who can take over the body of another species.
